The founder of Granny Cassie's House, Sherry Cooksey Thomas, was raised by her grandmother in a loving and caring environment, and now realizes granny Cassie could have used some support. The organization will offer programs to assist grannies in minimizing stress and will provide valuable information for grannies raising grandchildren.

To support the need for the organization, information provided by the United States Census Bureau in Georgia (2004) reported an estimated 183,441 grandparents raising their grandchildren with 59.5% being female. Our purpose is to reach out and provide assistance to grannies age 55 and older that, due to no reason of their own, have begun parenting again. The organization’s objective is to assist all grannies raising their grandchildren; however, grannies under the age of 55 will be referred to the proper agency for assistance.

Granny Cassie's House proudly serves the Atlanta metro area. Our doors are open to all grandmothers regardless of race, religion or beliefs.
